Summary:
The manufacturing building owned by S. I. Palmetto in Palmetto, Florida, is the
largest air conditioned manufacturing site in the State of Florida. The Low Bay
roof leaked since the time it was constructed. The roof system was a structural
panel which was placed directly over framing, thus complicating the roof removal.
In order to keep the building in operation during the reroofing process, a system
was devised to allow for placing the new metal standing seam roof over the
existing roof using a retro fit framing system.
The panels were roll formed on the
job site in one continuous piece from eave to ridge. The finished roof system
provided a leak-free work environment for the first time in the building's history.
